Academics

The Marina Vista ASP’s academic and enrichment structure was created to monitor students on a daily basis. Using tools such as the homework check-off sheet accomplish this. This is a monitoring system, which ensures that, to the best of our ability, our staff looks over every student’s homework and gives one on one attention to each student. Staff must sign off on assignments performed, as well as have parents sign the homework sheet. Students are rewarded from time to time for good behavior and performance.

Language Arts/ Reading
Students are monitored by grade to accomplish all Language Arts and Reading assignments. This is done through tested methods such as timed reading, reading logs, and performing written and oral reports.

Mathematics
STS staff will assist Marina Vista teachers in performing routine math assessments using tools such as flash cards and timed math quiz sheets. In using these methods, we can assist in monitoring the academic growth of our students.

Mission Statement

STS Academy bridges the gap between inner-city youth who prosper and benefit from the public school system and those who struggle and sometimes fail. We help to bridge this gap by establishing frequent and direct communication between parents, teachers, students and STS. We refer to this communication as The Ultimate Partnership.
