Program: Teens to Teach Time: 3:00 – 5:00 Monday – Thursday Place: PUSD Elementary Schools (5 Schools) Description: Assist Elementary School Students (Grades 1-5) with homework and special projects and learning concepts. Requirements: You must be a Pittsburg High School student with a 3.0 GPA or higher, District Recommendation & School Referral (some special exceptions will be allowed for promising students) Compensation: Receive community service hours for ½ of your time and a stipend of $8.00 per hour for the second ½, payable every other week via debit card. Have you considered becoming a Teacher? This is your opportunity to experience tutoring Elementary School Students while being a role model, a mentor and best of all being paid.
Program: Computer Tech Program Time: 3:30 – 5:00 Tuesday & Thursday (will adjust depending on interest) Place: Pittsburg High School Description: Learn to build and repair computers; add software and trouble shoot problems with Micro Soft and Adobe Software. Requirements: You must be a Pittsburg High School Student Compensation: Receive the computer you build during program with all software and a stipend of $50, you can purchase additional software or parts. This program will prepare you to be a member of Best Buy’s Geek Squad or prepare you to service your friends and family computers.
Program: Culinary Arts Program Time: 3:00 – 5:30 Monday - Thursday (will adjust depending on interest) Place: Senior Citizen Center , 300 Presidio Lane (across from Small World Park) Description: Learn to prepare great dishes and enjoy eating those dishes. Requirements: You must be a Pittsburg High School Student Compensation: After training you will qualify to assist the instructor at special events and you will be compensated for assisting at these events in the past the average amount has been greater than $10.00 per hour. This program teaches culinary skill which are invaluable and will help you to gain employment at food serving establishments (cooking, waiting tables & customer service).
Program: Art Shack Time: From the end of school day – 6:00 Monday – Friday Place: Art Shack at the 51 B Marina Blvd. Phone: 925-252-6981 Description: Learn to create your Art work in a safe creative learning spot. Requirements: You must be a Pittsburg High School Student Compensation: Art supplies will be made available. You will receive Assistance in marketing your art work.
Program: Fitness Center Time: 3:30 – 5:30 Monday – Wednesday Place: Pittsburg Community Center - 60 Civic Avenue. Phone: 925-252-6920 Description: Get in Shape and stay in shape with a trained instructor. Requirements: You must be a Pittsburg High School Student Compensation: The benefit of keeping in shape using state of the art work out equipment at no cost to you. Program: Multi Media Time: OPEN (will adjust depending on interest) Place: STS Academy 329 East Leland Road Description: Newsletter, Web Design and Video Production. Requirements: You must be a Pittsburg High School Student Compensation: Receive hand on training in each of the fields outlined above (class sizes are Minimum 12 and Maximum 20.
Program: Fork Lift Training & Certification Time: Tuesday & Thursday 3:00 5:00 Place: Riverside High School & the Warehouse Description: Classroom and Hand on training Requirements: You must be a Pittsburg High School Student Compensation: Receive state of California certification to operate a fork for any company in the state. This can be your ticket to a job as a forklift operator. .
